This is Alan Bishop

If you came here for my hot springs web site, I closed it in October of 2003. If you liked my reviews, you may like Tim Wu's as well.

Do I have the right Alan Bishop?

My friends always ask me why there's a short biography on my web page. Well, there are many Alan Bishops on the web. You may not have the right one.

This Alan Bishop grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina (with a brief stay in Asheville), went to Enloe High School, The North Carolina School of Science and Math, and North Carolina State University.

After that, I jumped from Middlebury College for Japanese study to The University of Washington in Seattle for a year of computer science graduate school. Then it was a summer in Mountain View, California working for Sun Microsystems, and then off to Denver for the winter.

Then I landed in Tokyo, where I taught English for 6 months and worked for Uniscope, Inc. for two and a half years.

After that, I lived in Seattle for another 10 months, doing more work for Uniscope, and then moved back to Mountain View, where I worked on JavaOS at JavaSoft at Sun Microsystems for about a year. I now live in Campbell, California, and I can be found at WebTV helping bring the internet to the oppressed masses.

You also might have met me at the taiko dojo, where I took classes. See Rolling Thunder for information about taiko.
